Navistar International reported fourth-quarter earnings of $3.37 a share, beating the $3.08 average analyst forecast. NAV pops 11 percent before the bell.

Salix Climbs on Phase 3 Data

Salix Pharmaceuticals said that a Phase 3 trial of its methylnaltrexone drug showed significant results against its primary endpoint. Efficacy

and safety measures were both good, and SLXP is up 9 percent in the premarket.

Costs Weigh on General Mills

General Mills reported second-quarter earnings of $0.76 a share. But higher costs weighed on the results, which missed the $0.79 consensus estimate. GIS is down 4 percent in the pre.

Targacept Plunges on Weak Trial

Targacept said that its TC-5214 drug candidate for patients with depressive disorder failed to meet its primary end point. It was the second bad report since November, and TRGT plunged 21 percent in the pre.
